background

Emergencies don’t wait – and neither do we. KMC’s Emergency Department is open 24/7 with a team certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Life Support (PALS), and trauma care (ATLS). Whether you’re suffering a sudden chest pain, trauma from a car accident on the nearby highway, or a severe asthma attack, our doors are open and the staff is ready.

What to Expect: The moment you arrive, our triage nurse quickly assesses you. Our ED Director ensures that critically ill patients see a doctor within minutes. We speak both Arabic and English fluently, so whether you say “Fi waja3 gharib 3a sodrei!” or “I’m having unusual chest tightness”, you will be understood right away. Our multilingual team ensures that language is never a barrier to getting the help you need.

  • Comprehensive Capabilities: We provide immediate care for a wide range of conditions – from fractures and bleeding wounds to stroke and heart attack. Our on-site X-ray, lab, and imaging (CT/MRI) mean fast diagnosis. Thanks to our affiliation, complex cases can swiftly involve AUBMC consultants via telemedicine if needed.

  • Critical Partnerships: The ED works closely with all other KMC units. For example, if you need surgery after an accident, our trauma team and surgeons are alerted instantly. If it is a respiratory failure, our ICU and pulmonologists coordinate. This teamwork can save precious minutes – and lives.

  • Peace of Mind: Family waiting areas, multilingual staff, and free Wi-Fi help reduce stress during anxious moments. We will update your relatives at every stage.

Patient Story: John from Ajaltoun, whose leg was badly injured in a fall, remembers the care: “It was midnight and I was in pain. At KMC’s emergency, the doctor spoke with my father on the phone explaining every test. I needed surgery, and by dawn my bone was set. They even helped my family find a nearby pharmacy open at 4 AM. I felt truly cared for.”

Common Questions:

  • “Is the ED really always open?” Yes, our emergency physicians and nurses never sleep. There is always an on-duty intensivist, pediatrician, and anesthesiologist nearby.

  • “Can I call ahead?” For minor emergencies or advice, you can call our hotline anytime. For critical cases (e.g. severe chest pain, accidents), coming directly to the ED is best, or calling Red Cross services who will collaborate with our team.

Whether it is a major trauma or a late-night fever in a child, trust KMC’s Emergency Department to respond rapidly, skillfully, and with empathy.
